lyrics
First you feel a knot
Thighetning up your guts
As your eye pupils get wider
Knuckle skin grows white
On your clenching fists
There's no turning back
All that's left is kill or be killed!
Cortisol, testosterone, adrenaline flows through -
Organic cocktail of pure violence
No remorse, sanity will come back later
Or maybe not, or maybe killing's your life purpose..?
Fear toxine, flowing through my veins
Like rabid dog I'm seeing red
Fear toxine, biology weaponized
No pain is capable of holding me back
It takes a certain push
And certain serious stress
To blur the line between man and a beast
In every silent lamb
Dwells roaring savage wolf
Fear sets it free on blood to feast
The greatest combat drug
Within the system built
Some grow to use it daily, some never know
The sweet euphoria of
turning reality
Into the battlefield, reducing all to mortal foe!
The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max. Amazing band, amazing album. Odiumediae
I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Eyes teary I listen to these songs, never forgiving the crimes of the cross! Peikonmieli
Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
